On the 21st of May, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 12 p.m. the National Museum of History will participate in the 12th initiative of the European Night of the Museums that is under the patronage of the European Council, UNESCO and ICOM. This year the motto of the Day of the Museums – May 18th – is ‘The Museums and the Cultural Landscapes’.
The visitors could see from 9.30 a.m. to 12 p.m.:
- The permanent exposition of the National Museum of History
- The renewed Antiquity Room with an exhibition of Roman emperors. Portrait effigies of the Emperor Publius Aelius Hadrianum (AD 117 – 138) and the Emperor Flavius Julius Valens (AD 364 – 378), who died near Ivaylovgrad, as well as of the Empresses Julia Maesa and Julia Soaemias are exhibited there. Other works of the antique marble sculpture are also shown in the Room.
- ‘Ghena Dimitrova –A Voice – Worthy Only of Gods’ Exhibition, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of the singer. The exhibition was opened on May 18th – The International Day of the Museums. It exhibits stage costumes of the opera prima donna, her prizes, original posters and tickets for performances, many photographs with autographs, catalogues, and others.
- ‘March ahead, o revived people’ Exhibition – Bazaar of embroidery, in memory of Bozhana Stoykova, Honoured Teacher from Lovech.
