Photos Reflecting the Period after 1944 Collection

The Photos Reflecting the Period after 1944 Collection was set up in 1975. It consists of 2251 inventory numbers with 5385 fund units – photos, facsimiles of documents and postcards.
The collection exhibits show the main moments of events in the social and political, economic and cultural development of Bulgaria from 1944 to the present.
The collection of portraits of contemporary Bulgarian politicians and socially active persons, scientists and cultural figures – professors, academicians, members of unions of intellectuals (writers, composers, actors, opera singers, artists, film – workers), sporting figures and others is a very rich one.
The photos of Bulgarian cities, towns, villages and other geographical objects – natural and historical – provide ample information about the urban planning changes and the novel architectural influences during the second half of the 20th century.
