Posters Collection

The Posters Collection was established as a separate museum collection in the National Historical Museum fund in 1980.
It preserves mainly Bulgarian posters printed from 1950 to the present. The collection subjects are:
- political posters
- posters for jubilee celebrations
- film posters
- posters for exhibitions
- posters for theatre, opera, ballet and other performances
- posters for sports 
- advertising posters
The collection preserves original posters created on the occasion of the 1300th anniversary from the establishment of the Bulgarian State and posters on the subject “The Struggle for Peace”.
Exhibits from abroad are a few and in terms of genre they refer to the subjects – films and exhibitions.
The Posters Collection contains 1270 inventory numbers with 11394 fund units.
